Gary Clarke’s COAL
The Lindsey Theatre, Grainsby Avenue, Cleethorpes, DN35 9NX
July 11th 2009 7:30pm

COAL was created in August 2007 by Barnsley choreographer Gary Clarke over a 5 week residency at the Yorkshire Dance Centre in response to Gary’s upbringing and family life in Grimethorpe. As a witness to the heart wrenching results of the 1984 miners’ strike, Gary wanted to explore the gritty realities of a miner’s life and try to translate this into the art of movement. This tour celebrates the 25th anniversary of the strike.
